A MURDER investigation has begun following the discovery of a man’s body in a unit near Newcastle.
Neighbours found the 63-year-old’s body lying in his Platt St, Waratah, unit about 5pm yesterday.
It is understood the man had been stabbed several times in the chest and had suffered serious trauma to his head.
Police have cordoned off the unit block this morning pending the arrival of a forensic investigation team.
A police spokesman said there were no suspects at this stage but anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers.
