Mandarin overtakes English as Hong Kong’s second language

However, an influx of mainland Chinese tourists and businessmen to Hong Kong
has caused friction in recent months, and the percentage of Hong Kong
residents who told a study, by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, that
they felt actively “averse” to Mandarin tripled in the four
years to 2010, from 1.8 per cent to 7.3 per cent.
