A dad from New Zealand who had half of his face tattooed with the word ‘DEVEST8’ to scare off prison inmates has revealed he’s finding it hard to get work.
19-year-old, Mark Cropp, recently spent two years in prison where he was serving a sentence for pulling out a knife on a tourist during a drug deal where Cropp was trying to sell fake cannabis.
Weirdly, in jail Cropp found himself in a cell with his brother who convinced him to get the ‘DEVEST8’ tattoo so that other prisoners wouldn’t pick on him, according to the New Zealand Herald.
Eventually after drinking a lot of homebrew, Mark decided to go ahead with the idea. And who would’ve thought? Now it’s hindering his chances of finding a job.
Posting to the Auckland job Facebook page, Mark wrote:
Hey im keen as to work but have one thing that is stooping me and that’s my tattoo on my face [sic].
Keen as on job or work place that will take me on.
Speaking to the New Zealand Herald, Mark added:
I’ve had other people that just shrugged and laughed at me.
I was over people judging for my facial tattoo… that’s why I made the decision to put that photo on Facebook, to turn around and say ‘I am just a normal human being, you do not have to judge me because of the way I look’.
Personally I do think that Mark should be employed based off his skills and qualifications instead of being simply dismissed – but come on mate, what were you expecting?
Hopefully you can turn yourself around in the near future and get back on the straight and narrow.
