My name is Chuck Casamento and i am a resident who lives in McHenry County- northern Illinois. One of my workers was illegally pulled over while leaving one of my projects back in August 2014 by Bull Valley police officer Al Antoni. The officer profiled my worker based on his driving a white van and issued him a ticket for not displaying a company name. While an Illinois law, an officer must have a reason to stop any vehicle.
My lawyer beat the ticket essentially by the Chief Jim Page dismissing it in their own admin court. He would not even let us have a hearing, then he refiled it as a state ticket! My lawyer beat the county ticket as well. I started submitting FOIA requests and found out the Chief and Officer AL Antoni arrested/detained/fined hundreds of people in similar circumstances. I took it upon myself to show up at these illegal hearings (these tickets can’t be administratively tried, they must go thru the county).
I hired a court reporter for the victims to be present and every single person beat the ticket. The second time I went to court, after the third person beat the ticket, the chief was standing in the hallway at the exit to the village hall/pd. I got up and a person who just had court was behind me about to exit. I opened the door and left the building.
The chief came outside and arrested me for battery. He said I swung the door open in order to batter him. I was processed and released. The State Attorney reviewed this video and dismissed my charge with prejudice and we filed a $1,000,000 lawsuit against him, officer Al and the village. There are other pending suits as well.
I was arrested for criticizing the Chief and the PD’s illegal policing practices.
