Man stole police car, gun: court

A Queensland man has appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court today after allegedly stealing a police car and a police gun.

Mitchell Murray Hanley, 21, has been charged with unlawful use of a police car and unlawful possession of a Glock semi-automatic police pistol after the alleged robbery on Tuesday in eastern Brisbane’s Redland Bay, the Courier Mail reports.

Police say Mr Hanley damaged a gun safe inside the stolen police car and also destroyed a uniform.

Officers are yet to find the missing Glock pistol.

Mr Hanley is also facing charges for allegedly stealing a car from Waterford last month and committing burglaries at Redland Bay.

He has been granted bail until May 29 on that condition that he reports to police once a week.
