A man in his mid-twenties has died after his car came off a suburban road and struck a pole in Melbourne’s east.
The man was driving east on a 60km/h stretch of Whitehorse Road in Mont Albert when his car hit a pole about 9pm (AEST) on Thursday, police said.
He died at the scene.
A few hours earlier a man aged in his thirties died after his sedan left the road and struck a tree at Diggers Rest in Melbourne’s northwest.
Victoria’s road toll now stands at 156 for the year, compared to 180 this time last year.
