The Health Ministry said a man succumbed to wounds he had sustained when an explosive device went off in Imbaba district, west of capital Cairo.
It added that two other people were injured in the same explosion.
A fourth man was injured in another explosion in Mohandeseen district, in Giza province west of Cairo, the Health Ministry noted in a statement.
Earlier in the day, Interior Ministry spokesman, Hani Abdelatif, said four explosive devices went off outside commercial shops in Mohandeseen, while a fourth device went off in Imbaba district.
Abdelatif told The Anadolu Agency that the first three blasts had only caused damage to shops in the areas where they went off.
He added that bomb disposal experts had started searching for other explosive charges near the sites of the blasts.
Bomb blasts have become a common occurrence in Egypt, while the government accuses opponents from the Muslim Brotherhood – the movement of ousted President Mohamed Morsi – of standing behind these explosions.
The Brotherhood says, however, that it is committed to peaceful opposition.
