Tran appeared briefly in the Melbourne Magistrates Court and will return to court in March.
A man who threatened police with a machete west of Melbourne has been remanded in custody.
It is alleged Van Tuan Tran, of Carlton, advanced on police with the weapon during a raid on a house at Melton early yesterday.
A police officer fired at the 26-year-old but missed.
Tran is facing eight charges including cultivating and trafficking cannabis and using a prohibited weapon.
A second man has been interviewed by police and released.
Tran appeared briefly in the Melbourne Magistrates Court and will return to court in March.
