A MAN was shot dead yesterday outside a Sydney house which was riddled with bullets in a drive-by shooting in June.
Police were called to the house in Kincumber Rd, Bonnyrigg about 2.40pm after they received reports that a man had been shot.
The body of the victim – who family members at the scene yesterday identified as Mounzer Taleb – was discovered lying in the gutter next to a car.
The family gathered near the crime scene but police removed them from the taped-off area.
The victim’s brother, Sabre Taleb, said his sibling was due to become a father soon.
“He was a lovable person, well looked after and never harmed anyone. Everybody loves him,” he said.
“I’ll always love you brother. You’ve got a family here who will always love you.” Mr Taleb said his brother worked as a handyman and bought and sold cars.
Superintendent Peter Lennon from Fairfield police said there were reports of a number of shots but he could not confirm where the victim had been hit, how many shots had been fired or whether he was coming or going from the property where his body was found.
On June 1 this year, the house was peppered with bullets in a drive-by shooting.
Five people, including a baby, were inside the house at the time. On another occasion, the house was rammed by a vehicle.
One local resident, who asked not to be named, said they heard a loud noise yesterday but thought it was a car backfiring.
“It was like one big loud bang and then all the sirens started,” they said.
Another local said they were shocked when they came outside to investigate.
“I just looked out the window and saw all the neighbours out there, so I came outside and that’s when I saw a person lying on the floor.”
Another local said she would not be allowing her children to play out in the street from now on.
