Man dies in Sunshine Coast crash

A motorist has been killed in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Police say the 25-year-old local man’s car struck a tree on Brandenburg Road, in the Mooloolah Valley, about 9am (AEST) on Sunday.

He died at the scene.

Also, a cyclist struck on Saturday by a car on the Gold Coast has died in hospital.

Police say just before 10am (AEST), a vehicle heading north on Oxley Drive at Coombabah hit a power pole, veered across a median strip into the southbound lane and collided with the cyclist.

The 26-year-old man died in Gold Coast Hospital from his injuries.

Police are seeking witnesses to the crash or the driver of a white Ford Falcon utility seen on Oxley Drive prior to the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
