A MAN in his mid 50s has died following a fire that destroyed a home in Mackay on Wednesday morning.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Community Safety said three fire crews responded to the blaze on Bundesen Street about 9.15am.
When firefighters arrived, the two-storey home was burning out of control.
The flames were overcome about 9.40am.
Police said one man was found dead in the house.
His identity has not yet been confirmed.
Police could not say whether anyone else was in the house at the time of the fire.
The fire was this afternoon being treated as suspicious pending further investigations.
