Man charged with stabbing woman in stomach

A man has been charged with reckless wounding after a woman was stabbed in the stomach in Sydney’s southwest.

Police and paramedics were called to a unit on Harrison Street in Ashcroft about 9.30pm (AEDT) on Wednesday and found a 30-year-old woman with a stab wound.

She was taken to hospital where she was in a serious but stable condition on Friday morning.

About 7pm (AEDT) on Thursday, police arrested a 38-year-old man and charged him with reckless wounding and breach of an apprehended violence order.

He has been refused bail and is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Friday.
