Man charged with NSW bowling club robbery

A rifle, a machete and ammunition have been found at the home of a man who allegedly robbed a Sydney bowling club at knife-point, police say.

Staff and patrons at a Longueville bowling club in Sydney’s north were threatened and robbed at knife-point in September last year.

Detectives have been investigating the robbery since then, and arrested a 27-year-old man at his Auburn home on Thursday.

During the arrest officers said they found a rifle, a machete and ammunition in his bedroom.

They allege the rifle was stolen during a robbery at an Auburn gun club in 2010.

The man has been charged with armed robbery with an offensive weapon and possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He is set to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Friday.
