Man charged after abducting former partner

A man has been charged with abduction after he allegedly grabbed his former partner in a national park southwest of Sydney.

The 43-year-old man from Bargo is alleged to have forced a 39-year-old woman from a vehicle in Thirlmere Lakes National Park shortly midnight (AEDT) on Thursday and then into another car, police allege.

The man is also alleged to have assaulted a man who was with the woman.

A public alert was issued on the woman and the second vehicle and just before midday she was found at a hospital in Bowral where she was being treated for injuries.

A man was arrested soon after near the hospital.

He has been charged with a number of offences, including abduction, breaching an AVO and recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear in Goulburn Local Court on Saturday.
