Lowell Turpin of Claxton, Tenn., suspected that his girlfriend was planning to cheat on him. His fears were confirmed — or so he thought — when he looked at her Facebook page and saw a photo of another man.
He didn’t believe her even after she told him that the photo was not that of a lover, but of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
In his jealous rage, Turpin allegedly “jerked her laptop computer from her grasp, smashed the machine into a wall, and then hit her in the face with his fist,” Knox News reports.
The woman told police that Turpin “has been violent toward her multiple times over several years,” according to Knox News.
Turpin was taken to Anderson County Jail on July 22 — the day of the incident — where he has remained in custody on charges of domestic violence.
