Man assaulted with glass ashtray in Sydney

A man suffered serious injuries after he was assaulted with a glass ashtray by four men when he answered a knock at his front door in Sydney’s west.

It is alleged four men entered the premises and assaulted the 53-year-old man at his home on the Great Western Highway in Kingswood about 4.15pm (AEDT) on Sunday, police said.

The man, who sustained fractured ribs, a broken nose, a fractured cheek and eye socket, broken thumb and serious swelling to his face, was treated by paramedics and taken to Nepean Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

St Marys Police have established a crime scene and specialist forensic officers have examined the scene.
