A MAJOR fire tore through the Harvey Norman store in Jamisontown on Friday afternoon, requiring more than 120 fire fighters to bring it under control and sending thick, dark smoke billowing into the air.
Fire and Rescue NSW said in a statement the quick-thinking and actions of fire crews prevented the fire from causing even more damage.
Shoppers and staff from neighbouring stores were also evacuated.
Fire and Rescue NSW said crews managed to bring the blaze under control shortly after 6.30pm.
