FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Abbas arrived in Tunis on Saturday and met with the Tunisian president at the Carthage Palace of the capital.
“I am glad to be in Tunisia, our brother country. We have got used to the love and unlimited support of Tunisia for the Palestinian cause since its inception,” Abbas said in a press conference on Saturday.
The Palestinian Authority chief stated that the two sides discussed “common concerns because what is happening on the Palestinian land is not only a Palestinian concern but it is also Tunisian.”
Abbas and Marzouki also discussed the reconciliation between major Palestinian factions of Hamas and Fatah.
“We think that Tunisia will contribute and do its best concerning the reconciliation in order to solve the internal Palestinian conflict,” Abbas said.
Hamas and Fatah signed a reconciliation deal on May 4, 2011, which provides for the creation of a joint caretaker Palestinian government before national elections expected to be held later in 2012.
On February 5, Hamas Political Bureau chief Khaled Meshaal and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas discussed the formation of a Palestinian unity government during a meeting in the Qatari capital, Doha. Palestinian officials said Hamas agreed to a Qatari proposal that recommended Abbas as the prime minister of the future Palestinian unity government.
Abbas was also scheduled to hold talks with Tunisian Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali during the three-day visit and he will travel to Libya after Tunisia.
