Ummmm… America helped train the Muhajideen against the Soviets (Operation Cyclone) and funded “Wahhabi” Salafist teachings, unleashing a mind virus. That money went into building Al Qaieda. Then they went into Iraq and destroyed all the infrastructure that kept extremist terrorists at bay. Now Al Qaieda in Iraq became ISIS, and is recruiting more radicals via the internet. Then USA went into Libya as part of a multinational coalition, to remove Gadaffi. While that in itself was a timely operation (he was bombing his own people), they have utterly failed to do nation building there, and now Libya is a failed state. And now we are “arming the rebels in Syria” against the Alawite government, destabilizing yet another country. As bad as dictators are, history has shown that the failed state is worse. And what exactly does the USA stand for? Going halfway around the world to arm and fund rebels in Afghanistan, Syria? Destroying a country Iraq that never attacked us?
In 2001 the world stood with us as we were attacked by terrorists. Now because of the USA’s wars in Iraq and what followed, Bush’s “pre emptive doctrine”, there is more terrorism and death. I would ask when wealthy countries will stop funding rebels and proxy battles in other countries, and let them figure things out themselves. Who indeed do we stand with? Saudis who fund rebels against Assad and bomb Yemen? Or Iran who supports Assad and fights ISIS? The USA helped bring about this mess in the Middle East.
