The Liberal National Party (LNP) has promised to crack down on police evaders if it wins the Queensland election.
LNP leader Campbell Newman says the party will introduce a minimum $5000 fine and two year loss of licence for evading police.
The most common fine for police evaders is currently $300, he says.
“Even repeat offenders, who continue to flout the law and put lives at risk too often get off lightly,” he said.
“We need tougher penalties to send the clear message that evading police by speeding off will not be tolerated.”
The election is on March 24.
