If you’re impressed by some of the massive vertical gardens popping up all over the world, and want one of your own, in miniature, check out LiveWall. The company’s three products are all planted wall systems that resemble bookshelves overflowing with greenery.
Of the LiveWall, LiveFence and LiveScreen, the last is my favorite: It’s double-sided and portable. If you have a large space in your home or garden that you’d like to separate, there’s no more pleasant way to do it.
LiveWall products are less for gardeners than people who want the results of good gardening. They come assembled and ready for planting. The WallTer planter boxes are made from recycled plastic and come in six colors; they slide into the aluminum frame on tracks. LiveWall says they work inside as well as out, but they seem better suited for exterior spaces.
The LiveScreen comes in different sizes and with the option of automatic irrigation (otherwise you water the plants by hand). Installation of the system costs between $95 and $125 per square foot. It’s not exactly cheap, but the upside is that you get a professionally-installed living wall, right in your home.
