The brother of Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has appeared before a court charged with dealing cocaine.

Johnny Nelson, 22, also faced two
further charges of driving while disqualified and driving without
insurance when he appeared at Redbridge Magistrates Court.

Nelson, of Hornchurch, Essex, was allegedly filmed selling cocaine from a Smart car to an
undercover journalist on December 14 last year.

Nelson, whose mother is a police community support officer, was bailed until February 16 when
his case will be committed to the crown court.

Jesy, 20, and her X
Factor-winning bandmates Perrie Edwards, 18, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 19, and
Jade Thirlwall, 18, have a squeaky-clean image.

There is no suggestion Jesy, of nearby Romford, or any of her family are aware or are in any way involved.

Nelson, who slicked his hair back and
wore jeans teamed with a black jacket and black shirt as he stood in
the dock, did not indicate a plea at today’s short hearing.

Ellen Warner, prosecuting, told JPs the case was not
suitable to be heard by magistrates and recommended it be heard at the
Crown Court.

She said: ‘The crown would say this is not suitable for
summary trial.  The nature of the allegations is this was an operation by a national newspaper.’

Nelson was released on bail on
condition he stays at his address in Stafford Avenue, Hornchurch, does
not sit in the front seat of any motor vehicle and reports to his local
police station three times a week.
