“Let Us Count a Woman’s Beauty” by Michael Walsh

Let’s count a woman’s beauty,
Not by face or form alone,
Let’s tally up her daily smiles,
And count the blessings blown;
Calculate her kindly thoughts,
As she goes through her day,
And don’t forget her serving hand,
That helps us on our way.

Let’s count a woman’s loveliness,
Not by her face or form,
Nor count the painful heartache,
Of her dreams that stay unborn;
Let’s count the children she will bear,
As blessings yet to come,
A woman’s beauty counts as nought,
If such must count as none.

Let’s count a woman’s blessings,
Weigh parts we cannot see;
The mysteries of woman’s soul,
That will not let her be;
A woman who’ll not look away,
When pain is in your face,
A woman’s splendour will endure,
When beauty leaves her face.
