Leading Rabbi: Paris Attacks “Punishment for Holocaust”

Israel’s Chief Rabbi for Judea and Samaria has announced that the terrorist attacks in Paris were “deserved punishment” for what the “wicked” Europeans allegedly did to Jews during the Holocaust.

Rabbi Dov Lior, the Chief Rabbi of Hebron and Kiryat Arba in the southern West Bank, also the rosh yeshiva Kiryat Arba Hesder Yeshiva, and head of the Council of Rabbis of Judea and Samaria, made the statements at a funeral today for two Jews killed by Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

Lior’s remarks were published in Hebrew on the Walla! news agency and partly translated by the Jerusalem Post.

Lior told mourners last Saturday during the funeral that the attacks in Paris were deserved due to what Europeans “did to our people 70 years ago.”

“The wicked ones in blood-soaked Europe deserve it for what they did to our people 70 years ago,” Lior said.

Lior has a long history of outspoken Jewish Supremacist racism, which is always tolerated by the Israeli state, and never given any publicity in the controlled media in the west.

For example, in 2009, Lior wrote an endorsement for a book called The King’s Torah, written by fellow Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira, which permitted killing civilian non-Jews “in times of war.”

In 2014, Lior published a letter saying that Jewish law permits destroying the entire Gaza Strip to bring peace to the south of the country.

“At a time of war, the nation under attack is allowed to punish the enemy population with measures it finds suitable, such as blocking supplies or electricity, as well as shelling the entire area according to the army minister’s judgment, and not to needlessly endanger soldiers but rather to take crushing deterring steps to exterminate the enemy,” Lior wrote.

In 1978, he ran for the post of Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem. Even though he lost that contest, the extent of his support among the rabbinical classes was revealed when 25 of Israel’s leading religious figures voted for him in that contest (the winning candidate took 37 votes).

Afterward he served as Av Beit Din (“Chief of the Court”) of the Beersheva Rabbinical Court, another senior post in the religious hierarchy. While there, Lior also announced that it was forbidden by Jewish law to employ or rent homes to Arabs.

He also ruled that Jewish women should not use sperm donated by a non-Jewish man and a baby born through such an insemination will have the “negative genetic traits that characterize non-Jews” and that “Gentile sperm leads to barbaric offspring.”
