SES says water levels at Lakes Entrance and Paynesville are not expected to rise above last night’s high tide levels of one metre.
State Emergency Services Incident Controller Stan Hendy says the high tides are most likely to peak in low-lying areas of Gippsland Lakes.
He says residents will be well prepared to handle the peaks.
The Monaro Highway is now open from Cann River.
The Princes Highway is now open.
South Gippsland Highway will remain closed between Sale and Longford
SES crews continue to clean up fallen trees around Orbost, Cann River and Mallacoota.
SP Ausnet say they have restored power to Mallacoota and Marlo.
SP Ausnet spokesman Jonothon Geddes says 200 customers remain without power.
These include some customers in Cann River, Combienbar, Bindi and Tongio.
He says crews will try and restore power to the disconnected power, weather permitting.
“We’d like to thank customers still without power for their patients and the support we have received from the emergency agencies in helping us access assets damaged by strong winds, floods and falling trees,” he says.
A Community Meeting to bring people up to date with local flood information and recovery will be held in Bairnsdale RSL, Lakes Room, corner of Princes Highway and Forge Creek Rd at 5.30pm today Thursday 7 June.
CFA crews are helping clean up properties inundated at Tinamba.
The Bureau of meteorology has issued a moderate flood warning for the Snowy River, Mitchell River, Thomson River and Macalister River.
Flood Warning for the Gippsland Lakes, South Gippsland catchments, Tambo River.
Minor flood warning for the Tanjil River, Latrobe River, Buchan River.
The Department of Sustainability and Environment have closed all state forest areas in Gippsland including recreation sites to public access over the Queens Birthday weekend.
Visitors can visit Wilsons Promontory National Park and Buchan Caves Reserve, according to the State Emergency Service.
