Takahashi has told police that he had been hiding in all-night internet cafés
since police raided the apartment he had been renting in the city of
Kawasaki, where he had been working as a labourer on construction sites.
When arrested, he was carrying £37,000 in cash that he had withdrawn from bank
accounts when he realised that police were closing in on him.
