Lahore protesters against price hikes

Pakistanis have taken to the streets of the country’s second largest city, Lahore, to protest against price hikes and inflation, Press TV reports.

On Sunday, representatives from different parts of the country gathered in Lahore, Punjab Province, to participate in the protest that was organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Party.

Demonstrators say price hikes and inflation have made it difficult for citizens to lead their lives.

One demonstrator said, “Probably 80 percent of our nation is struggling. We are here because we are the voice of our nation. We want to stand up against this incredible price hike.”

On December 20, Imran Khan, the chairman of PTI party, called on people to raise their voice against what he described as the government’s negligence to address domestic issues.

He said that the people were suffering from the wrong decisions of the federal government. Imran Khan says the government has devalued the Pakistani currency.

However, PTI leaders demand that the government improve people’s standard of living. The party has promised to hold more demonstrations.
