Kazakhstan says foils bomb attacks linked to fugitive billionaire

The Alga! party, which Ablyazov partly funds, also denied the allegations.

Ablyazov, 48, has previously called for regime change in Kazakhstan and is one
of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s biggest foes.

He fled to London from Kazakhstan
in February 2009 after the collapse of his bank, BTA Bank. From London he
had financed the main opposition movements in Kazakhstan.

Since February, however, Ablyazov has also been on the run from the British
authorities after he was found guilty of contempt of court in a case brought
against him by his former bank in London in 2010.

He was handed a 22 month prison term but, having absconded from the
sentencing, apparently fled to Europe.
