Karimi who recently received the production permit for her new motion picture Crystal has not announced her program for it yet.
“The film will grant me first experience of producing,” said Karimi, adding that she is not slated to play a role in this movie.
Karimi’s latest production Final Whistle went on many international screens and received three awards only at the 2012 edition of the French festival held in Vesoul.
As Iran’s only representative, Final Whistle swept the Best Director, Paris Institute of Eastern Languages, and France Young Jury awards of the festival.
Karimi’s drama was also screened at the 8th edition of Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), the 2011 Busan International Film Festival, and the 22nd Festival of Iranian Films at Chicago’s Gene Siskel Film Center.
Actress, filmmaker and photographer Niki Karimi has also judged at many International events including the Cannes, Locarno, Damascus, Rennes, Delhi Osian, Reykjavik, Vesoul and Berlin film festivals.
Her performance in veteran Iranian filmmaker Dariush Mehrjui’s Sara won her the best actress awards of San Sebastian and Nantes film festivals in 1992.
She made her directorial debut with One Night in 2004 and her second film A Few Days Later (2006) premiered at Rome Film Festival.
