“I wanted to make sure we had as much detail as possible. The more detail
I have the more accurate I think” the claims are, Mr Okorocha said.
Mr Okorocha added that it took time between the incident allegedly occurring
and the case being filed because he wanted to investigate his client’s
claims and discuss it with Travolta’s representatives.
“We did discuss the matter with some of his people to see if there was
any way it could be resolved … to make it easier on everyone,” Mr
Okorocha said.
The civil suit claims assault, sexual battery and intentional infliction of
emotional distress, and the plaintiff is seeking a jury trial, according to
the filing.
The statement from Travolta’s spokesman called the lawsuit “a complete
fiction and fabrication. None of the events claimed in the suit ever
occurred.”
Travolta, 58, rose to fame in the 1970s on television sitcom “Welcome
Back Kotter,” then became a movie star with hits such as “Saturday
Night Fever,” “Grease” and later, “Pulp Fiction.”
He has been nominated for two Academy Awards and has been married to wife
Kelly Preston since 1991.
