Joanna Parrish suspect ‘had scratches on face and bag similar to victim’

The prime suspect in Parrish’s murder was long serial killer Michel Fourniret,
a 69-year-old former forest ranger who was convicted of the murder and rape
of seven girls and young women in France and Belgium in 2008.

Mr Fourniret’s wife, Monique Oliver, twice told investigators he had killed
Parrish, but both, serving life sentences, now deny this.

French judges closed the case in 2010, ruling there was “no case to answer”
against Mr Fourniret, nicknamed The Ogre of the Ardennes.

But this month, the Paris court of appeal overturned this decision and ordered
investigative judges to “make new inquiries in all directions …
including a new line of inquiry that has just been discovered”.

The Fourniret couple are still suspects.

Didier Seban, the Parrish family lawyer, said the Parrish family were “naturally
happy” about the latest development. “All they have ever wanted is
to know the truth, who committed this crime and why.”
