In what’s being hailed as Britain’s biggest anti-nuclear weapons rally in a generation, tens of thousands demonstrated on London’s streets Saturday to protest the U.K.’s Trident nuclear weapons system and to call for global nuclear disarmament.
“We are not alone,” Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of Britain’s Labour Party, told the crowd in central London today. “There are many people around the world … who have wanted a non-nuclear future for their country and their planet.”
From the U.K’‘s Channel 4 News:
He was joined by Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who denounced Trident as “immoral” and “impractical,” while Corbyn said he believed in a “nuclear-free Britain and a nuclear-free future”.
