The storm struck Japan’s main island of Honshu on Tuesday, leaving thousands of households without electricity.
A tornado warning was issued for Tokyo.
Japanese police say an elderly citizen died in central Toyama, while another was crushed to death after a warehouse collapsed on the western island of Shikoku.
Reports also indicate that more than 160 people have been injured across the country.
Japan’s weather agency has recorded winds at 150 kilometers per hour in the country’s western regions. It predicts the winds to move north-wards by Wednesday, producing waves as high as 10 meters.
More than 550 domestic flights and a number of trains services have been suspended as a result.
