Every year I poke at the Arlington Artists Alliance about naming a show called “It’s a Steal.” To make matters worse, they hold the event at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in which I find irony.
St. Andrews appears to be a prosperous congregation and located in a fine Arlington neighborhood where I suspect there are many art buyers.
Have mercy on artists’ souls who work themselves to the bone on their own nickel to produce astonishing work that is of the highest quality money can buy. Actually, art produced by this local group is filled with soul and rich in joy and spirit.
It is just a damned shame that they can’ call it something other than “stealing.” What about “Gods artful gifts.” Pass the plate, and take one home. Pastor, please pray over this bunch and remind, “Thou shalt not steal,” especially from artists.
Bless your kindness.
