Bologna – Italian President Giorgio Napolitano was met by egg-hurling protesters in Bologna Monday at a ceremony to receive an honorary degree. “We’ll give you a degree, President Napolitano,” chanted students gathered at an ‘Occupy Bologna’ protest around the city’s historic university, where the president was to receive a diploma in international relations. Police arrested some of the demonstrators, enraged at the country’s dismal prospects for youth employment, when they began hurling eggs and other objects, injuring some officers and one journalist. The president was not reported to have been struck. About 40 protesters from local leftist clubs hurled trash and toilet paper at a line of financial police and inside the school rector’s office.
