Israeli troops kill Palestinian in WB

Rashad Deeb was shot and injured along with his two brothers during a clash with Israeli troops on March 27 in the West Bank town of Rammun, about 10 kilometers (six miles) northeast of Ramallah, AFP reported.

Deeb was transferred to a hostiptal in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) while in “critical condition” but succumbed to his injuries at 4:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT) on Monday, according to West Bank medical sources.

Palestinian security sources said the clash took place when the Deeb brothers went outside of their home to confront men they thought were thieves. However, the thieves turned out to be “Israeli soldiers working undercover,” the sources added.

Israeli military officials claimed one of the troops was attacked by a “knife-wielding Palestinian.”

The latest development in the West Bank comes a few days after Israeli troops shot dead 20-year-old Mahmud Zakut in the city of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza Strip on the day that thousands of pro-Palestinians gathered in occupied territories to mark the Palestinian Land Day on March 30.
