Israeli troops attack Palestinians

Israeli troops have wounded two Palestinians in two separate attacks in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.

In Gaza, Israeli troops shot and wounded a Palestinian teenager on Friday.

The 19-year-old boy was shot in the leg after Israeli forces opened fire on dozens of Palestinians who had gathered near the buffer zone, east of the city of Jabaliya.

The wounded was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Tel Aviv regime established a so-called buffer zone along the border with the Gaza Strip in 2008 for alleged security reasons, damaging a large portion of Palestinian farmland.

The zone officially extends 300 meters into Gaza territory, but reports indicate that the Israeli regime is in effect forcing a much larger no-go zone.

The Israeli military frequently targets Palestinians along the border with Gaza, which has remained literally cut off from the outside world by a crippling Israeli blockade since 2007.

The siege has turned the densely-populated coastal sliver, home to some 1.7 million Palestinians, into the largest open-air prison in the world.

In another incident, a Palestinian was injured in clashes between Israeli forces and demonstrators in the West Bank village of Bilin.

The Friday demonstration which was held in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners turned violent after Israeli troops fired tear gas at the crowd.
