Days of Palestine, Jerusalem –Extremist Israeli Jewish settlers wrote on Sunday at dawn hate speech on doors, walls of Dormition Abbey Church in Old City of Jerusalem.
Witnesses, who took pictures of the graffiti which was written in Hebrew, said that it contained threatening and insulting phrases targeting Christians and Christianity.
Palestinian Christian official Wadie abu-Nassar said the graffiti reads: “Kill Christians, the enemy of Israel” and “The revenge is coming very soon,” as well as “Send Christians to hell.”
- Abu-Nassar, who is a senior advisor to the Catholic Church, also condemned the graffiti, calling it reflection if Israeli Jewish racism, and pointed out that the incident was not the first Zionist attack against the Dormition Abbey.
In 2014, an Israeli Jewish extremist lit a prayer book on fire in the Church, in what Israeli police at the time said was a suspected arson attack just hours after Pope Francis held mass at a nearby Christian holy spot during a visit to the area.
A year before, Israeli extremists spray-painted “Jesus is a monkey” in Hebrew outside the Church, and “Havat Maon,” the name of an illegal Israeli settler outpost that had been dismantled by the Israeli occupation just days before the attack.
In 2012, Israeli extremist Jewish settlers spray-painted “Jesus, son of a bitch” in Hebrew, signed by the phrase “price tag,” a term used by Israeli extremists to mark nationalist-motivated hate crimes.
Extremist Israeli Jewish settlers always carry out such attacks against the Muslim and Christian religious places across the occupied Palestine and the Palestinian territories.
Human rights groups have always said that the Israeli government encourages such hate crimes as it does not bring the perpetrators to court.
