According to the reports, Israeli military sources say the interception caused a strong explosion that rocked Ashdod and triggered air raid sirens on Monday morning.
The drone is said to have been launched from the besieged Gaza Strip.
This is while al-Qassam Brigades, which is the military wing of Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, confirmed that it launched a number of drones to carry out special missions inside the occupied territories.
In addition, Palestinian fighters have also launched a volley of fresh rockets into occupied Palestine in retaliation for the bombardment of the besieged enclave.
Qassam brigades launched rockets at Haifa, Tel Aviv, Rishon LeZion, Ashkelon, and several other locations causing casualties.
Palestinian fighters also fired over a dozen rockets at Ashdod and Hatzor airbases in central region.
The developments come as the illegal Zionist entity continues to pound the Gaza Strip for the seventh straight day. At least 38 Palestinians have been killed in the besieged territory since early Sunday.
