Days of Palestine, Jerusalem -Israeli hospitals separate Arab women from Jewish in major Israeli hospitals based on “racial ground,” Israeli radio revealed on Monday.
According to the Israeli Radio Reshet Bet, the Israeli hospitals of Shaare Zedek Medical Centre, Hadassah Medical Centre, Eklof and Meir Hospital separate Arab and Jewish women in maternity wards.
However, the administrations of these hospitals denied the separation measures, the radio reported, but staff members confirmed them.
Commenting on this report, Israeli Arab MK Ahmed al-Tibi voiced out his criticism against what he called an “apartheid policy” carried out by the administrations of the Israeli hospitals against Palestinian and Arab women.
In a statement, Al-Tibi called for the Israeli occupation ministry of health to immediately stop such measures, which “are inspired from the apartheid regimes.”
The report of the Israeli radio reiterated that this measure had been part of a “systematic act” that hospitals adopted for a long time.
Meanwhile, the Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid blamed the Israeli ministry of health for this “racist” measure as it is its duty to enforce and follow up on rules and regulations.
Head of the Arab Joint List in the Knesset Aida Touma-Suleiman called for a meeting for the list’s member to discuss this “worrying issue.”
