Days of Palestine, West Bank -Israeli occupation agents assassinated on Friday former Palestinian prisoner Omar Zayed, 51, in Bulgarian city of Sofia.
Zayed’s family accused the Israeli occupation authorities, throughout its agents, of assassinating him while he was taking refuges inside the Palestinian embassy in Bulgaria.
In a statement, the family also accused the Palestinian Authority of being complicit with the Israeli occupation regarding the assassination of the former Palestinian prisoner, who holds a Bulgarian ID.
Bulgarian news websites reported that at 7:35am Friday, emergency services received a call to the embassy for a man seeking urgent medical treatment. Zayed was found at the embassy’s backyard with critical injuries in the upper parts of his body.
He was rushed to a local hospital in Sofia. But he was later on announced dead. Bulgarian medical sources said that they exerted much effort to save his life, but they could not help.
Palestinian Front for the Liberation of Palestinian (PFLP), which Zayed was a member of, said he was shot in the head. The PFLP also accused the PA of not affording enough protection for Zayed.
Two month ago, the Israeli occupation authorities demanded that Sofia extradite Zayed. Therefore, the Bulgarian police raided his home but they did not find him.
Zayed, who was married of a Bulgarian woman and had three children, arrived at the Palestinian embassy in Bulgaria two months ago after learning he was wanted by Bulgarian police.
Bulgarian authorities then set Zayed an ultimatum to force him out of the embassy, but he refused. The Palestinian Ambassador to Bulgaria Ahmed Madbough set Zayed an ultimatum of his own, giving him 24 hours to turn himself in to Bulgarian authorities.
Israeli occupation authorities have been known for such acts. Israeli agents have carried out tens of assassinations and kidnappings of Palestinians all over the world.
None of the countries, where the Israeli operatives had carried out such hostile activities against Palestinians, took any measures against them.
