Speaking in an interview with Lebanese-based broadcaster Al-Manar on Thursday, Roknabadi said the latest terrorist attack that killed senior officials in Syria was not a simple event as it showed the Arab country’s importance in the resistance front in the region.
“The recent terrorist operation in Damascus has in fact been designed by foreign countries and only Israel benefitted from the operation,” he added.
Iran stands by Syria as the Arab country is the principal supporter of the resistance movement in the region, the ambassador pointed out.
He emphasized that no one can dictate to the Syrian people and noted that Syrians remain committed to the resistance movement against Western countries.
On Wednesday, Syrian Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Assef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani were killed in a bomb attack on the headquarters of the National Security Bureau in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Interior Minister Mohammad Ibrahim al-Sha’ar and National Security Bureau chief Hisham Bikhtiyar were also wounded in the attack.
The so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) rebels claimed responsibility for the attack, threatening more violence in the Syrian capital in the coming days.
