The Israeli coalition government led by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is largely unpopular by the electorate, a recent poll has found.
Conducted to mark six months since the formation of the government and published by N12, Channel 12‘s news website, the poll found that 45 per cent of respondents want former Prime Minister and Opposition Leader Benjamin Netanyahu to be in office.
Only 25 per cent said they preferred Bennett to be in office while 24 per cent wanted his coalition partner Foreign Minister Yair Lapid to be prime minister.
Meanwhile, the poll found that at least 55 per cent of Israelis are satisfied with the Defence Minister Benny Gantz, while 33 per cent are dissatisfied with him.
If general elections were held today, Netanyahu’s Likud party is expected to receive 57 seats, while the Arab-led Joint List would get six seats.
At least 44 per cent of respondents said they oppose the rotation deal between Bennett and Lapid, while 40 per cent support it.
Bennett and Lapid agreed to a power sharing deal which would see Bennett hold the position of prime minister for two years and Lapid take over until new elections are held.
