Awake Goy The underlying Islamist hatred of Europe was on open display yesterday as thousands of Turks at one of Istanbul’s largest football stadiums chanted “Allahu Akbar” and booed during a one minute’s silence supposed to commemorate the Paris terrorist attacks.
The astonishing scene, broadcast live on television, took place during a match between a Turkish and a Greek football team at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium, which holds nearly 18,000 people.
Loud jeering was audible during the minute’s silence, held before kick-off, along with repeated chants of “Allahu Akbar”—the Arabic phrase meaning “God is great,” and which is now most commonly associated with Islamic fundamentalism.
Turkey has been offered membership in the European Union by Angela Merkel.
