ISIL Takfiri admits to getting US funding

The Express Tribune reported on Wednesday the ISIL operative, identified as Yousaf al-Salafi, told Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies that he received funding through the US.

According to the paper, Salafi was taken into custody in December 2014, although other reports said he was arrested on January 22.

A source close to the investigations made the announcement “During investigations, Yousaf al Salafi revealed that he was getting funding – routed through America – to run the organization in Pakistan and recruit young people to fight in Syria.”

The operative also admitted to receiving $600 for each person he managed to recruit and send to war-torn Syria.

Using an alternative name for ISIL, a source said “The US has been condemning the IS activities but unfortunately has not been able to stop funding of these organizations, which is being routed through the US.”

The source also said the issue had been revealed to US Secretary of State John Kerry as well as Commander of the US Central Command General Lloyd Austin during his visit to the capital Islamabad earlier this month.
