The Iraqi Interior Ministry announced on Friday the detention of 964 wanted terrorists during a series of campaigns carried out by security forces last week, Anadolu Agency reported.
The ministry confirmed that the campaign was carried out between 20 May and 3 July, issuing no additional details about the operation.
On Thursday, two people were killed and 23 others wounded in an explosion detonated near the tomb of Imam Musa Al-Kadhim, in the north of Baghdad.
Daesh has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
Recently, armed attacks have increased in the area between Kirkuk, Salahuddin and Diala.
