MNA – Iran’s Parliament in a Thu. statement said the US recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital has quashed any hopes of some Arab countries for negotiations and a two-state solution.
Permanent Secretariat of the Palestine Intifada Conference at Iran’s Parliament issued a statement on Thursday, condemning US President Trump’s move to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital and announcing to relocate the American embassy in Tel Aviv to this holy city.
Deeming the day of the announcement as another calamity in Palestine’s history, the statement added “the Great Satan [US], in a blatant infringement of the United Nations resolutions, the international conventions, its own commitments and human rights standards, proved to the world that not only does it not adhere to any principles, but that it does not have an accurate understanding of the present situation of the region and the world.”
“Being deeply worried about his political future, Donald Trump has sold out the oppressed Palestinians to Zionists in order to secure his term in office,” the statement said. “By this sinister and unwarranted move, the US government has quashed the last remaining hope of some Arab leaders about the prospect of negotiations and the two-state solution.”
“The occupying regime of Israel knows that such foolish acts by the US government will not make any change in the situation of al-Quds,” the statement continued. “The Palestinian people and advocates of liberty and freedom across the world will now become more resolute and united than ever for the liberation of Jerusalem and the land of Palestine.”
“The Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran calls on all pro-Palestinian and pro-liberty nations, all Arab and Islamic countries, to condemn the US measure, defend the legitimate right of the Palestinian people, and declare one day of public mourning and fly their flags at half-staff in all Islamic countries,” the statement concluded.
