Tehran, March 13, IRNA- In a sign of warmer relations between Iran and New Zealand, Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has arrived for a two-day visit.
Mr Zarif is visiting Wellington as part of a regional tour of six countries, according to Radio New Zealand (RNZ).
He will hold talks with Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully today, and Prime Minister John Key tomorrow.
He will also speak to the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs tomorrow.
Along with many Western nations, New Zealand lifted sanctions against Iran last month after it agreed to roll back its nuclear activities.
Before the sanctions were imposed in 2006, Iran was New Zealand’s fifth largest export market.
New Zealand exporters described the removal of sanctions as an opportunity to tap into new markets and renew the country’s relationship with an old trading partner.
