During his stay in Africa, schedulled to begin on Monday, Rahimi will discuss promotion of bilateral ties as well as the most important political issues of the Middle East and Africa with Kenyan and Tanzanian authorities.
Explaining Iran’s views on various global issues as well as developments in Africa and the Middle East, the latest developments related to Iran’s nuclear energy issue and its recent negotiations with the P5+1 group – the US, France, China, Russia, and Britain plus Germany – is another goal of Rahimi’s African tour.
Rahimi will meet with the Kenyan President Emilio Mwai Kibaki, Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, and the country’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga during his stay in Nairobi.
He is scheduled to sign an agreement for avoiding double taxation in addition to economic, insurance and investment memorandums of understanding in Kenya.
The Iranian first vice president will also invite the presidents of Kenya and Tanzania to take part in the forthcoming Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran.
The 16th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement member states will be held from August 26 to 31 in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Iran will assume the rotating presidency of the group for three years during the Tehran summit.
