On the sidelines of the 104th session of the International Labor Conference (ILC) currently underway in Geneva, Iran’s Minister of Cooperative, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei met and conferred with his South African counterpart as well as the ILC President Nelisiwe Mildred Oliphant.
Iran’s Rabiei, at the meeting, emphasized the need to reinvigorate ties in Information Technology (IT) fields as well as exchange of experience in providing employment opportunities in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The session also discussed venues for mutual cooperation between the two ministries following the recent visit to Tehran of the South African president.
The two sides further pointed to exchange of instructors in the field of vocational training with an emphasis on IT as well as to development of business and entrepreneurship in SMEs in addition to employment development programs.
Common grounds for mutual cooperation between Iranian and South African funds were discussed and it was agreed that a relevant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be inked between the two sides during the upcoming visit of the South African labor minister to Terhan.
